Botta bing botta boom. We have less than one week until this semester is over!!! I can’t believe how fast this semester has gone by! It seems like yesterday I was introducing myself to the class for the very first time. So many things have happened since then, and I have learned so many different things about creating an online business that I will be using for the rest of my life… This week was like icing on the cake for me, because I was able to dive deep into Google Analytics to see what all it has to offer my business. I know that earlier in the semester, we learned about some aspects of it, but this week we learned even more about it and the information that it can give us. I fully believe that if a business knows how to use Google Analytics, then they will know how to make their operations more efficient in the long run!

Social Media for SEO
Holy moly Batman, this semester is almost over! Where has the time even gone? Over the past few weeks I have created my website, created my ad words campaign, set up my google analytics, learned about search engine optimization, learned about quality scores, and many more things. This week we learned a ton about why social media is important to advertising and some of the ways we could use our social media platforms to sell our products and services. Social media platforms are awesome to advertise on, because so many people use the internet to buy things in this day and age! We learned that any person or business can advertise on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, Pinterest, Twitter, and just about any other social media platform. Whether a person or business uses facebook ads, instagram ads, influencers, etc., the internet will always be one of the best ways to get the word out on your business in order to sell your various products.
Search Engine Optimization
What’s up all of my week 11 homies?!? Shout out to all of you guys for keeping up with my blog for this long! Okay, I don’t really know if anyone is reading this or not, but if you are, then you’re a good friend.
This week we focused a lot of how to optimize our search engines and also our landing pages. I feel like if you are running an online business or if you want to run an online business, then these tips will be useful for you. I only have a few of basic tips for you all, but they will be helpful, so listen closely! The first thing that you all have to understand, is that WORDS MATTER! Your keywords, the words in your title, the words in your links, and even the words on your website. Make sure that the words that you are using all have something to do with the words on your website, because your search engine (Google, Bing, etc.) will look at everything you do and give you a score based on how well you are using your words and how well your ads will do. Make sure to be very careful when choosing your words, because they can either make or break you!
ROI & Optimizing Ad Performance

WELCOME TO WEEK TEN!!!! I can’t believe that we have made it this far in the web business creation class! It’s weird to think that we have only four more weeks after this and then we are done-zo! This week was really enjoyable for me, because I finally had the chance to enable my google ads to be sent out all over the internet! Brother Scott told us that $3 a day way pretty normal for students, so we will see how that goes! I have no idea how far $3 a day will take me, but I guess i’ll be finding that out here pretty soon! Another thing that I did this week, was I added a lot of keywords to my campaign. I added more words that have to do with my stainless steel straws and cups that I will be selling online. I think that I have a pretty solid set up so far, and I’m really excited to see what will happen with this campaign in the next couple of weeks!
Relevance and Quality Score
Welcome to Week 9 of our little Web Business Creation experiment! This week we learned a ton about quality scores, relevance, and how we can make our websites more efficient to our ads that we put out. I learned that quality scores are super important, because they are an indicator on how well your ads are doing and who all will be interested in my products based on the score that I get. I learned that relevance is so important to quality scores, because the higher my ads and website are relevant to each other, the more success I will have in the long run. You will want to make sure that what you are promising in your ads will be made possible on your website, because if people feel like they are being lied to, they won’t visit your website and you won’t have as much success as you want. Show the customers that you care about them, and you will have success!
How I Run Google Ads

Like I told you all last week, I have decided to call my online website, Summer Essentialz. I have been working for hours and hours in order to get my website up and running, and I finally feel like it is almost ready!
One of the things that I have to do is finish up my Google Ads for the biz. Since I will be selling Eco-friendly metal straws and water bottles, I have decided to target the west coast of the US, because I feel like they are the kinds of people who are really trying to create a healthier living environment for the whole world. Many people in Oregon, Washington, and California have already invested heavily in products meant for reducing the world’s plastic use, so I feel like metal straws and water bottles would be the perfect things to sell them!
Along with my Google Ads, I will be showing said ads on mobile devices and laptops because those are the most popular devices right now. This next week should be really fun, because I will send the ads out and hopefully get a few sales on my website!
Legal Structure for the Biz
I don’t know if you have heard about this next piece of information or not, but I finally made my website for the class! My online store name is Summer Essentialz and I am selling metal straws and plastic water bottles for the summer months (hence why my picture above is of a family playing outside in the summer). I am very excited about this project and I can’t wait to learn more as I go along!
With this week’s lesson, we talked a lot about the legal structures of a business and also the licenses and taxes that are required to start an online business. Since I will be drop shipping on Shopify, I wanted to look up if I needed any sort of license to start selling my products online. Thankfully I don’t need a license if I am just drop shipping on Shopify, because the government doesn’t require a business license for that!
Young Adulthood and Pathways to Eternal Marriage

The year was 2015. I was 20 years old, and after serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I decided that I needed to go to college. Like a lot of LDS people, I decided that I wanted to save money, so I went to BYU-Idaho at the start of 2016 because it is one of the cheapest universities around. I honestly had a blast at the university. I lived with one of my best friends, and every week, we would do what college kids do. We would go to parties, different concerts, eat out all the time, make new friends, etc… While serving my mission for the church, we were told that we would need to eventually get married and start a family, because that’s where life’s greatest joys are. I took this piece of advice like I needed to get married as soon as I got home, so once I got to college, that goal was always in the back of my mind. I knew that in order to prepare for marriage, I had to work on becoming the best version of myself that I could be. Needless to say, I was definitely the stereotypical kid at BYU-I who wanted to get married super fast…. Fast forward one year to the beginning of 2017. What was happening in my life at this time? You guessed it. I still wasn’t married. Because I had the idea that I was supposed to be married so quickly, I thought that I was a failure because I haven’t lived up to the expectations that I set for myself. Because I focused so much on finding a wife, I didn’t take the opportunity to date around as much as I should have with my time in college that year… At the beginning of 2017 I decided that I would just start dating around without the intentions of finding the perfect girl right away. This was great for me, because I had the opportunity to see what qualities I liked in different women, and also to see the qualities that I didn’t like so much. Throughout this time, I made sure that I was living the way that I was supposed to and that I was turning into the man that I was supposed to be.
At this time, I want you to ask yourself: “Am I making the best choices that will prepare me for an eternal marriage?” As you think about this question, come up with ways that you can do better in your life so that you can feel prepared with finding your perfect wife for the future. In my next blog entry, I will be talking about how I met my wife and how I courted her before our marriage!
Which is better: Affiliate Marketing or Drop Shipping?

Wassup my people?!?! OKAY! So here’s a little update with my life! I am with my last semester of classes until I graduate college with my bachelor’s degree in Social Media Marketing! Pretty exciting right?! I KNOW!!! So for this last semester of classes, I have to take this class that has to do with creating an online business. For this class, we have to create our own online business. Two of the options that we were given for this business is to either get into affiliate marketing or drop shipping. Affiliate marketing is when you refer a customer to another business and take a commission if the customer makes a purchase. In effect, your website acts like a marketing and referral engine and you don’t actually sell any product. Drop shipping is a way to run an online store where you don’t have to store inventory or ship product. The way it works is that you set up your storefront and collect money just like a regular store. But instead of having to pack and ship the product once you receive an order, you simply place an identical order with the distributor at a wholesale price and the distributor takes care of shipping the product to the end customer for you.
This week I have to decide on which type of business that I should get into! Which one is it going to be???
